October 27, 2006
To Club Officers and Members,
This letter is to introduce our registry to you and to inform
you of the new opportunities available to your membership. In
response to the current crisis in anti-dog legislation across
the country and the threat that animal rights extremism poses
to traditional dog ownership and use, the Board Of Directors
of the American Dog Breeders Association Inc. (ADBA) is making
a commitment to become the leader in the fight for the preservation
of the rights of all dog owners and breed |
ers. Effective October 27, 2006 the
ADBA will open their registry to additional recognized breeds.
The ADBA was founded in 1909 with multiple breeds, but over time
the Association became focused on serving the needs of the American
Pit Bull Terrier owner and breeder.
Legislators and local lawmakers are drafting and passing outrageous
and punitive restrictions toward dog owners and breeders. The
PAWS 2005 bill (SBI139/HB32669), breeder restrictions, mandatory
spay/neuter and Breed Specific Legislation are well known examples
to which we are referring.
In addition to the traditional BSL, we have
seen dog breed after dog breed added to the restrictive list
depending on the bias of the local lawmakers, or the latest headline
in the local newspaper. A new twist in anti-dog legislation is
the mandatory spay and neuter ordinances of all dogs, by counties
and large cities in California. This "spay or pay"
trend is being passed or proposed in cities across the nation.
This anti-dog sentiment is a reality that is expected to get
worst before it gets better.

At this time, we have a
number of individuals and organizations throughout the country
with a plan of action to help safeguard our rights of dog ownership
and traditional use. They have a plan, but little support. The
ADBA is committed to supporting their efforts. This is what we
have done in the past, but it is now time to do more.
The American Dog Breeders Association's financial donations to
organizations fighting anti-canine legislation for the past twelve
months:
American Canine Foundation (ACF): Toledo OH. Lawsuit $5000
American Canine Foundation (ACF): Aurora CO. Lawsuit $5000
American Canine Foundation (ACF): Anima! Owner Advocacy $5000
National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA): Calif SB861 Lawsuit
$1000
Sportsman's & Animal Owners' Voting Alliance. (SAOVA): Fight
Paws 2005 $5000

To the breeders who register their litters with us, we pledge
$1 for each pup registered to the fight to safeguard our rights
of animal ownership and use. From the registration of each dog
that comes into our registry as a single dog registration, we
also pledge $1 to the fight against anti-canine legislation.
We are confident that with every dog owner and breeder on board
that shares our mindset and goals, we will prevail.
The American Dog Breeders Association has a solid track record
in serving their clients with integrity and confidentiality,
in a timely and cost effective manner. We are inviting you to
