You can build one or buy one already constructed
out of chain link fencing from Lowe's or Home Depot. Make sure
the kennel is sturdy and the Labrador pup can't dig out from
under it. (Labs are famous for digging.) It would be wise to
have the kennel located on a hard concrete surface to prevent
it from getting out. Some Labs are like Houdini and tend to be
good escape artists.
Several years back, I owned a big block-headed chocolate male,
called Captain Cortez. He was smart enough to figure out how
to press a button on an electric garage door opener and break
out. He was sort of a pirate, pillaging and plundering through
the neighborhood. Luckily, a friend corralled him before he walked
the plank and bit off more than he could chew.
If you opt to keep your new pup inside, designate a specific
room in the house and line it with |
ewspaper to prevent accidents. Labs are
fairly easy to train and house-break. All it takes is a little
patience. If you don't have the time or the patience, you might
consider investing in a professional trainer. Once you have established
where you will keep the new canine, always have a fresh bowl
of water and a bowl with puppy chow available in the area you
have selected. Puppies are like new born babies - when they get
hungry, thirsty or need attention they will bark or whine. |
