Welcome to the February/March issue of Bird Dog &
Retriever News. Thanks for subscribing. With seasons over, we
are right in the middle of banquet season. Last week we were
at a springer banquet, this weekend is our area Vizsla banquet,
in a few weeks is the MN German Shorthair banquet, seems I'll
need to go on a diet all over again soon.
So what's new? I have been a busy camper as of late. I am adding
about twenty new items a week on our online store Guldans.com
In mid February I will be spending a few days at the SHOT show
in Vegas and will bring back some of the latest and greatest
stuff you can't find anywhere else.
Also starting in March we will have more good dog stuff for you
internet savvy readers. After about three years of work and a
few thousand web pages later we will be introducing Canine Today
magazine. It can be read for free off our Canine Today website
www.caninetoday.com starting March 1st.
So what's in this issue? First Ron, my eleven year old son is
going to have a one page column on the history of dog breeds.
This issue he starts with one he owns, the English Springer Spaniel.
I continue in my series and talk to you about running pointing
dog hunt tests. Dave Duffey takes us for a walk with a Lab that
was a bit... independent. The book for this issue is: Grouse
and Lesser Gods, gotta love the title. We let you read about
ten pages of it before you decide if you want it for your library.
Bob & Jody Iler talk about retriever training for pointing
dogs. David Krassler looks at blind retrieves for spaniels. Bill
Hanus looks at shooting with a weak eye. And Robert Milner teaches
us about retriever training for field trials.
See you in the field, banquets and the show,
Dennis Guldan
