What I had witnessed was a moment in time that likely wouldn't ever be forgotten by either of them. When the father and son arrived that morning they probably had limited expectations about what they would do and see. This is normal in this situation because they didn't have a lot of knowledge about what to expect. Based on the outcome of their experience we likely " blew them away". Expectations by each of us come in many forms. We all have expectations for ourselves and we have expectations for each event in our lives we plan to be part of or witness. One of the quotes I like is by Charlotte Bronte, she writes " Life is so constructed that an event dose not, can not, will not match the expectations." Each of us has been pleasantly surprised when something has gone way beyond our expectations. It usually means that we had a great time. Businesses thrive on this idea and use it to make sure you come back to their product or activity. Expectations are similar to gifts. You can be a giver or receiver. If for the most part you can spend time to help build great expectations for others , your life will change. There is no greater feeling of satisfaction than to help create a wonderful event for someone else. Just think of it as a " surprise party "and you are the only organizer.
