Someone once told me as a publisher I had
a great job. I get invited to hunt all over the world and can
hunt whenever you want. Yea right, and who keeps up the website
and gets the magazine ready for press. If the truth be known
writers and publishers get very few invitations for hunts, I
get about two a year.
So when I told Jerry Thoms I just did not have time to go to
the KnockMDown Writers hunt/workshop in Clark, SD in early September,
Jerry said, shut up and get your butt out here and bring your
kid, it sounds like fun. So I said what the hell and did just
that, and you know the issue went to press a day or so late,
no one bitched and the day is on my top ten for favorite days
of my life.
The event was held at Oak Tree Lodge of Clark, SD, a top of the
line resort, where hunts are $500 a day... |
but with a resort with pinball machines
(Ron's favorite), multiple fireplaces, meeting facilities, a
top of the line chef and sparkling facilities, sure beats the
local hotel at $100 a night and $30 for a steak. Think entertaining
the client.

The event was put on by Oak Tree Resort, Oak Tree Kennels
and KnockMDown Productions. KnockMDown has plans for a website
that will take you hunting with them everyday of the season on
the internet from Alaska to Argentina. They also will be producing
a video to be released in 2005.
