Bird Dog & Retriever News

August / September 2003 issue Page 6

Dennis, I read about all this web page and internet stuff and I'm nothing but confused. I'm a good old southern boy that just want the problem to go away, what makes your service better than all the others in simple words that I can understand. Jim G. Atlanta, GA
Jim, there are a dozen reasons we have more hunting dog advertisers and web pages than anyone else in the world, but I hope all goes back to one thing, service. Who else will give you their cell phone number so you can contact them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Look at our website, we have over 15,000 pages online, our biggest competitor has about 15... we are a thousand times larger. And because of that we get a million people a month reading our magazine and looking at our advertisers, and all that for under $20 a month. Fact of the matter is, we are the big dog, cause no one can offer you a package close to what we do, period. DG

Dennis, I am a Marine Corporal and just recently returned from Iraq and unfortunately my subscription ran out. I would love to renew my subscription to your magazine. Thank you so much for producing an informative and well planned magazine. Keep up the great work! Semper fi! Chris A, Aliso Viejo, Ca
Chris, I'm ex-Air Force and if you haven't been thanked already let me do so. And this year read Bird Dog News on us for free. DG

Bravo Dennis! I have never seen your magazine before but sign me up for the longest subscription you have. Anyone with balls enough to bring up that there are too many damn hawks should be commended. From what I have read in the issue I saw and what I have been able to read of your magazine on line your the only voice I have seen that truly speaks for the true bird hunter. No holes barred, you tell it like it is. Tell me what I owe you I love what your doing, and keep doing it, we need more people like you to raise issues no one else will touch. Bob O, Milwaukee WI.
Thanks Bob, I think it my job as the publisher to stir the pot and start debate. I have had a few e-mails from the "establishment" that are very unhappy I am starting such a discussion. But I have yet to find an issue so severe we can not even talk about it. DG

Dennis I have a great cover shot of my Drahthaar you might be interested in running on the cover. How can I get it to you? Larry H. Watertown SD
Just e-mail me a copy or send it in normal mail and I'll take a look, I'm always looking for great cover shots... we have the best in the industry. DG

Dennis, I will need some more puppy packet cards soon. I have seven cards left and eight pups that will leave the kennel in the next three weeks and two litters on the way. The idea seems to be well received by everyone. I tried to get Pointing Dog and Gun Dog to do this some time ago and they would not even respond to my correspondence. Oh well, you snooze you lose! Thanks Randy Johnson, Wingo KY
Well consider the source! With the other two magazines your dealing with big corporations who are a bit out of touch. If you want to contact me look at the bottom of any page, you have my cell phone. Yell if you need anymore cards, we send out hundreds every week for free 4 month subscription cards for new puppy owners, no obligation. DG

Dennis you the man, I left only my name and telephone number on your machine and you managed to get a magazine out to me. Hell I fill out cards with my address and mail it into other magazines and they still can't manage to get out my magazine. Thanks for a great magazine and your good work as Sherlock Holmes. Kevin S. NYC
Kevin, I have been called and am one of the net gods, you give me bits and pieces of information and I can find the rest. I hope you enjoy the magazine. Did you know your picture is on the web from that High School party where you got wasted? DG

Dennis, I read your magazine in a barber shop while my son got a hair cut. I am very offended by the magazine. Why does anyone need to kill birds anyway? What are grocery stores for? You need to learn to be at peace with the world. Chasity W. Des Moines IA
Chasity, first I would suggest you get a life. How do you think those things get in the grocery store, if they aren't first killed. We are just carrying on a tradition that has been with man for a million years. DG

Keep the letters and pictures coming we'll make room.
